Simple Fruit Pizza Cookies for a Fruit Party

Simple Fruit Pizza

This simple fruit pizza cookies recipe is perfect for any baby, bridal shower, birthday party or celebration. Especially if you’re having Fruit Party!

Fruit pizza is a refreshing summertime dessert! I love how you can create a large fruit pizza, or my personal favorite, individual fruit pizzas! They’re soft and little chewy with a sugar cookie base, cream cheese frosting, and fresh fruit for toppings. You can follow the simple step-by-step instructions, or view the full recipe below.

Fruit Pizza Crust:

Creating the fruit pizza crust can be very simple and easy by buying premade sugar cookies or premade sugar cookie dough. Follow the package directions for baking time. You can even make homemade sugar cookies.

I went with a premade sugar cookie dough. I baked the cookies according to the package the night before the event and let them cool. Once the cookies were cooled I placed in an airtight container for the night.

Fruit Pizza Sauce:

The fruit pizza sauce, or cream cheese frosting is a simple and quick four-ingredient frosting. Before making the frosting, have the cream cheese sit out at room temperature for easier mixing.

Using an electric mixer, mix the cream cheese, then add the vanilla and powder sugar. Mix until smooth.

If you’re serving the cookies at a later time, put the cream cheese frosting in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. Remove frosting from the fridge prior to frosting, so it’s easier to apply to the cookies smooth.
If serving right away, set aside until ready to frost the cookies.

Bonus: When it’s time to frost the cookies, frost the bottom side! The bottom side will be flatter making it easier to frost and place the fruit pieces on.

Fruit Pizza Toppings:

The best part of any pizza (in my opinion) is the toppings! Now’s the time to get colorful and creative. Select your favorite fruits, wash and clean them. Dice them into bite-size pieces. Make sure they are small enough to allow different pieces of fruit on each cookie.

You can decide how many different fruit varieties you’d like. I recommend at least three; kiwi, strawberries, and blueberries.

I laid a piece of paper towel on top of the plate after washing the fruit so the extra water was absorbed before “topping off” the cookies.

Bonus: cut the fruit in different ways to get different sizes and designs with the fruit. Cut strawberries into more of stripes shape cutting them up and down vertically. Or cut them horizontal to get a circle shape. The same thing for kiwi, cut into pieces or leave in circular shapes, or triangles.

Bonus Tips & Tricks for Large Party:

If you are planning fruit pizza for a large group or party, turn them into a fruit pizza buffet. Simply prepare all the ingredients ahead of time. Have the cookies (bought or made), cream cheese frosting in an airtight container, (brought to room temperature if refrigerated), and the variety of fruit washed and cut. Create stations for each step and have your party guest make their own fruit pizza to enjoy!

Simple Individual Fruit Pizza

Ingredients:
  • 1 package of sugar cookie dough
    • Made easier: Buy sugar cookies already made
  • 1 – 8 oz Cream Cheese
  • 2/3 cup Powder Sugar
  • 1 – tsp Clear Vanilla
  • 1 – 2 cups of fresh fruit (various types and colors)

Instructions:

Cookies: Bake pre-made cookies according to directions on the package, or follow your favorite sugar cookie recipe. Set aside and let the cookies cool.

Frosting: Mix the room temperature cream cheese with a hand mixer, slowly add the powder sugar and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Fruit: Select a variety of fresh fruit in different colors. Wash and clean fruit. Dice fruit into small pieces.

Decorating: Once the cookies are cool (or right before serving), frost the cookies with the cream cheese frosting. Add the fresh cut up fruit on top.

  • Note: you do not need to buy a lot of different varieties, I would recommend at least three: strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi.
