The nearest science museum (1.5 hours away) had a traveling dinosaur exhibit and We.Were.Going. These monsters stomp around day in and day out. We talk about longnecks and sharp-tooths, what they eat, where they came from and where they went. Dinosaurs are alive and well in our house.
On Saturday, I packed up the kiddo and The Hubbs and we were off. We stopped at McDonald’s on the way there and that is where it all went downhill. That little flying fairy toy my child got in his lunch was the highlight of the day. It was all he talked about. Seriously kid – there is fascinating, awe-inspiring, older-than-dirt creatures right before your very eyes!
Later at dinner, he looked at me and said “Mommy, I really loved seeing the dinosaurs today. That was awesome.” My heart smiled – he loved it! Then, he turned to The Hubbs and in his sweet little voice “Right, Dad? That’s what you told me to say.”
I am sure the kiddo absorbed some of the fascinating info and our dinner conversations have certainly turned back toward the giant beasts that once roamed the earth – so it was totally worth it. I think a dinosaur birthday party is still at the top of his birthday party theme list!
