Party Planning Checklist Continued: 1 Week Before the Party

Whoo hoo! You’ve spent the last 8 weeks planning all of the details for your upcoming birthday party, baby shower, bridal shower or baptism celebration, and now there’s only 1 week left before the big day! At this point in the party-planning process, finalizing all of the major details is vital. Start by confirming the head count, contacting those who have not yet RSVP’d if you have to. You’ll need to know just how much food and beverages to have on hand, after all. Once you’ve confirmed the head count, update your caterer so he or she can prepare the right amount of food. Then, plan the room arrangement and seating. Confirm balloons, centerpieces and other major decoration details, then create party favors and other DIY decorations. If you can, recruit two or three of your craftiest friends and spend an afternoon decorating candy containers and making centerpieces to your favorite tunes.
