Burlap wreaths are a great door decoration for fall parties, and with this free tutorial, you can learn how to make one that matches your fall baby shower or birthday party theme, then keep it hanging on your door until the snow flies! All you need is a foam wreath, a few yards of burlap, pins, and scissors to make the wreath, then you can add your own unique party decorations. Guests will be delighted when they arrive for the celebration to find this eye-catching wreath greeting them at the front door, and they’ll be even more impressed when they see how you’ve used it show off your party theme! Follow our tutorial to make your burlap wreath:
You’ll Need:
- (1) 10- to 12-inch foam wreath
- 1.25 yards burlap
- About 100 pins with slightly larger heads
- Scissors
Directions:
1. Start by cutting your burlap into four-inch squares.
2. When you have a good-sized pile (at least 50), pick up one square and fold it in half to form a triangle.
3. Hold that piece by the lower corner and, one side at a time, bring the other two corners toward your fingers at the bottom.
4. Pinching all three corners together, insert a pin through each layer and pin the “bubble” of fabric somewhere on your wreath.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 until your entire wreath is covered, placing each new “bubble” of fabric so it hides the pin on the most recently added piece. (This will take about an hour, so make sure you’re comfy! Once you get going, you can easily enjoy your favorite movie or show while pinning, so it goes pretty fast.)
When your entire wreath is covered, you can adorn it with a decoration that matches your party theme! We used craft paper to create a rosette that matches BigDotofHappiness.com’s original Little Cowboy birthday party theme, then decorated the rosette with a personalized Little Cowboy sticker label.
