Our new Chevron Rainbow everyday party theme has been an instant Big Dot Favorite and is the inspiration for our Rainbow Photo Booth. Creating an interesting photo booth background doesn’t have to take up most of your party budget. We have created an easy photo booth tutorial to make a perfectly themed space for under $30.
This rainbow photo booth tutorial is also perfect for candy buffet backdrops or dessert table decorations.
First, gather your supplies.
From Big Dot:
Streamers (7 for Rainbow)
White Table Covers (2)
Circle Party Tags
TOTAL: under $30
Other Items from Around the House:
Curtain Rod & Hooks
Tape or Tacks – We like to use painters tape to save our walls
Tulle (6” x 25 yd. Roll) – Can be found at your local big box store or online for under $3
Step One:
Attach table covers to the wall that will be behind the streamers and tags. Use tape (or tacks) to make a flat surface with the bright white table covers. Hang a curtain rod or dowel with hooks at a height that will be well above your guest’s heads. Cut lengths of tulle to reach from your rod to the floor and string circle tags, 1-2 tags per tulle length.
Step Two:
Attach your streamers and tulle to the rod. Our pattern was: two of each color, then a
tulle strip, then two more of the same color, then a tulle strip; repeat.
TIP: Tape the streamers around the rod so they can slide and you can adjust placement & then tie the tulle to the rod.
Step Three:
Repeat your pattern with each color. Vary the placement and amount of circle tags to each tulle strip to add interest. Get the party started by adding some fun props to your backdrop – your guests are going to have a blast!
