From their vibrant yellow, orange and white stripes to their distinct cone shape, candy corn is a universal symbol of fall parties and Halloween treats. There are many ways to incorporate this sugary candy into fall party food and recipes, and one unique idea involves the use of trendy push pops! Easy to work with and fun to decorate, push pops can be filled with yellow, orange and white candy, mini muffins or, in this case, cheesecake mousse – yum! Simply layer colored mousse into push pop containers, top with candy corn, and decorate! The result is a delicious, colorful dessert that’s perfect for fall baby showers and Halloween parties.
You’ll need:
- (1) 8-ounce package cream cheese
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup milk or cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- (1) 8-ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
- Orange and yellow food coloring
- Candy corn
- Piping bag
- Push pop containers
- Personalized stickers
Directions:
- With an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese in a bowl until smooth.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar, then milk or cream, then vanilla. Beat for about 1 minute on medium speed.
- Fold cool whip into the mixture and stir until fully combined. Now you’ve got cheesecake mousse! Stop here and enjoy a spoonful, then continue to create your candy corn push pops.
- Scoop about 1/3 of the cheesecake mousse into a bowl, add a few drops of orange food coloring and stir until colored (start slow – a little goes a long way!).
- Scoop another third of the cheesecake mousse into a second bowl, add a few drops of yellow food coloring and stir until colored. Leave the remaining third white.
- Starting with the yellow mousse, scoop the mixture into a piping bag and squeeze a layer into the bottom of each push pop container. (I found it easiest to start with the bottom pushed almost all the way up, and slowly lower the bottom to make room for each subsequent layer.)
- Repeat with the yellow mousse and then with the white. Place a personalized sticker label on the side of each container (we used BigDotofHappiness.com’s Little Pumpkin African American baby shower theme to decorate here) and refrigerate until just before serving. Garnish with candy corn and you’re all set!
