Halloween is just around the corner; let the celebrations begin! The end of October and the Halloween festivities have always been one of my favorite times of the year. I don’t know if it’s the costumes, candy, or children’s fun, but there is always something ‘spook-tacular’ happening.
Whether you are hosting a baby shower, birthday party, or Halloween festivities, we have the perfect Halloween decorations to liven up the party. To make it extra special, make the party dual-purpose and allow your littlest pumpkin guests to partake in the fun.
When you are sending your invitations, encourage each person to bring a small pumpkin to the gathering. An alternative to this would be to take your child with you to the local pumpkin farm and have him or her help choose the pumpkins for the party. My son, William, looks forward to choosing pumpkins each fall season.
Next, be sure to tell guests that this party will include some exciting decorating! Then, during the party, the children (or adults!) can each decorate a pumpkin. Provide alternative decorations like yarn, googly eyes, macaroni, markers, paper and other easy-to-find items. Then, guests can take home the pumpkin they decorated. If you’re hosting a special Halloween occasion at a school or business, you can opt to take the decorated pumpkins to a local nursing home and brighten someone’s day.
This do-it-yourself type of get-together provides more than just ‘things’ for the guest of honor; guests will share laughter, create marvelous decorated pumpkins, and produce wonderful memories of their time together.
