Creamy Blue-“bear”-y Push Pop Recipe: Perfect for A Teddy Bear Baby Shower!

Perfect for a teddy bear baby shower (or birthday party), this creamy blue-“bear”-y push pop recipe is a tasty way to incorporate your bear party theme into the food table or dessert buffet!

Push Up Containers

Although the original recipe was intended for a flat baking pan, I simply layered the pretzels, whipped cream and blueberry/jello mix in push pops, then decorated the containers and stand to match BigDotofHappiness.com’s unique Boy Teddy Bear baby shower theme. The result was sweet, salty, and totally adorable. Read on to learn just how to make your own “beary” good blueberry push pops!

You’ll need:

  • (1) 8-ounce bag of pretzels
  • 1 cup + 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 1 ¾ cup boiling water
  • (1) 6-ounce package of blueberry-flavored gelatin
  • (1) 8-ounce package of cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 3 cups whipped topping
  • 3 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 gallon-size plastic bag (or piping bag if you have it)
  • 1 circle-shaped cookie cutter about 1.75” in diameter
  • Push pops and stand
  • Personalized stickers that match your theme
  • Scissors
  • Craft paper, ribbon, etc.

Directions:

Because this recipe is displayed in plastic push pops rather than one large baking dish, I made each layer ahead of time, then used a circle-shaped cookie cutter and piping bag to place the cooled layers into push pops one by one.

To make the pretzel layer…

  1. Finely crush the pretzels in a plastic bag using a rolling pin.
  2. Combine the crushed pretzels with 5 tablespoons of sugar and the melted butter.
  3. Press the pretzel mixture into the bottom of a 9” x 13” baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-10 minutes, then set aside to cool completely.

To make the gelatin layer…

  1. Combine the boiling water with gelatin in a bowl, then stir until dissolved. Set the bowl aside to cool to room temperature.
  2. When the gelatin has cooled to room temperature, mix in the blueberries and place bowl in refrigerator to thicken completely.

To make the cream layer…

  1. Using a mixer, beat the cream cheese and 1 cup sugar until combined, then mix in the whipped topping with a spoon until blended. (It’s important not to use the mixer to blend the whipped topping as well, since doing so will cause the topping to lose its “fluffiness.”)
  2. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator (where it will keep for the few hours it takes for your jello to harden).

While your layers are cooling, decorate your push up container display box with craft paper, ribbon, and personalized stickers so it matches your baby shower theme!

When all three layers have cooled…

  1. Place the empty push pop containers upright in your decorated stand and remove the lid.
  2. Using a spoon, remove a small portion of the pretzel mixture and drop it into the bottom of each container. You can use the spoon’s handle to gently press the pretzels into the bottom of the container, but don’t worry if they’re not completely flat.
  3. Fill your plastic bag or piping bag with cream mixture, then cut a small hole in the corner of the plastic bag or affix a piping tip to the piping bag. Slowly squeeze a layer of cream over the pretzels in each push pop container.
  4. Using the cookie cutter, cut a circles out of your blueberry/jello mix and gently drop the circle onto the cream layer of each push pop.
  5. Repeat steps 9-11 until your push pop containers are filled. Top with whipped cream and a blueberry or Teddy Graham (how cute!) and serve immediately, or place in fridge overnight.

Push Pop Recipe Ideas

I used BigDotofHapiness.com’s Boy Teddy Bear personalized name tag sticker and coordinating ribbon to decorate the front of my push pop display box, then added a Boy Teddy Bear personalized round sticker label to decorate a few of the individual push pops. If you’re celebrating a girl, no problem! Simply replace the blueberries and blue jello with strawberries and pink jello, then decorate your straw-“bear”-y push pops with Big Dot of Happiness’ Girl Teddy Bear stickers instead!
