In recent years, there’s been a (darling) trend of putting cookies on sticks. These cookie “pops” are especially suited for showers and birthday parties, because they allow you to create striking displays for dessert tables and buffet tables. A particularly popular shape is a cookie flower on a stick (presumably because they are so simple—not to mention adorable—to then display in little flower pots with a bit of grass. Cute!
There are many ways to create flower cookies—from rolling little balls of dough in colored sugar to using a special pan specifically designed for baking cookies with sticks in them. But my favorite method is to simply make some basic cut out cookies (rolled a bit thicker than usual) and insert the sticks before baking (on a regular cookie sheet!)
Recently, as I was reading over a recipe for yet another flower on a stick cookie, it occurred to me that the personalized round sticker labels from Big Dot were just made for these yummy treats. After you bake and cool your cookies (go ahead and use a store-bought sugar cookie dough—I won’t tell!), simply wrap them up in a small cellophane bag, tie them with a pretty ribbon, and place a round sticker label on the bag to be the center of your beautiful flower.
You have just created simple, beautiful, delicious, handmade, personalized(!) favors for your child’s springtime birthday party. Now, stand back and let your guests marvel at your brilliance!
