Celebrate your party colors with DIY painted frames! Every Hostess Hero knows that little more color never hurts, and BigDotofHappiness.com’s white frames are an easy to way to incorporate your party colors into table decorations and buffet tables. You can even use them to make party signs! By adding a single coat of colorful spray paint, these four- by six-inch frames are transformed into festive decorations that highlight your party colors!
I started this project thinking that I would need spray paint specially formulated for use on plastic. However, I wasn’t able to find all of the colors I needed in that type of spray paint, so I took a chance and purchased the “regular” kind (which included plastic on the list of surfaces it bonded to but was not specifically intended for it). Lo and behold, the regular spray paint actually worked better than the specially formulated spray paint, which didn’t dry nearly as evenly.
Once you’ve selected the necessary spray paint, make sure that your white frames are free of dust and other particles, then remove the plastic insert. Holding the can of spray paint upright and at least six inches away from the frame, slowly coat the entire frame with paint. Set aside to dry (usually about 24 hours).
When your frames are completely dry, insert a food sign, display and enjoy! You can even make your own frame centerpieces from Big Dot of Happiness’ personalized placemats. Click here to see how!
