This fall party favor idea is as easy as it is adorable: DIY candy cornucopias! Did you know that soaking the point of a waffle cone in warm water and then microwaving it will allow you to shape it? I didn’t, and it totally worked! Simply soak the bottom two inches of a waffle cone in warm water, then microwave the cone for about 30 seconds. Bend the tip around a pencil, hold for a few seconds, then let the cone dry. Once dry, the cone will maintain the shape into which you bent it; in this case, it resembles a miniature cornucopia. Fill the rest of the cone with fall-colored candies and decorate with a personalized favor tag, and you’ll be left with a fall party favor that’s adorable and inexpensive!
You’ll Need:
- Waffle cones
- Candy
- Saran wrap
- Ribbon
- Rubber bands or clear hair ties (I used the clear Goody hair elastics since they’re hard to see, yet sturdy)
- Personalized favor tags
Directions:
- Stand the waffle cone in a bowl of warm water so the bottom two inches are submerged. Soak for about 1 minute.
- Remove the waffle cone from the water and microwave for about 30 seconds.
- Remove the waffle cone from the microwave and roll the tip around a pencil. Hold the rolled tip around the pencil for about 30 seconds, then gently slide the pencil out from the rolled-up tip.
- Set the waffle cone aside until dry (about 10 minutes).
- While the waffle cone is drying, cut a 3-inch square from the Saran wrap.
- When the waffle cone is completely dry, fill it with candy and use a rubber band or clear hair tie to hold the Saran wrap square over the top.
- Cover the rubber band and Saran wrap ends by wrapping a length of colorful ribbon around the edge of the waffle one.
- Add a personalized tag, tie the ribbon and repeat until all of your favors have been created!
