Pumpkin Party Favors

If your little pumpkin has a birthday this month, chances are you’ll be hosting a seasonally themed birthday party in some form or another. Whether you decide go all out with a full-blown costume-party-haunted-house-monster-jam, or you opt for just a few strategically placed gourds and a pot full of apple cider on the stove, chances are good that these adorable pumpkin party favors will fit right in at your party!

These tiny pumpkins are just the perfect thing to hold a sweet treat or a small gift for your little guests. And, because they are so simple to assemble, you could put out the materials at the party and let the children make their own—now you have a party activity and a favor all in one!

For an adorable finishing touch, attach a personalized Little Pumpkin gift tag to each pumpkin’s vine. You don’t get much more “October” than that.Pumpkin Themed Birthday Party Favor Ideas

Pumpkin Treat Holders

Materials:

Orange tissue paper or cellophane, cut into 6- to 8-inch squares (adjust larger or smaller, depending on what you’ll be filling your pumpkins with)

Green pipe cleaners

Small candies or other small gifts

Empty egg carton (optional)

Layer two squares of tissue or lay out one square of cellophane flat on the table. Place a small pile of candy in the center of the square, and gather the edges loosely up over the top of the candy to form a stem (don’t pull the sides too tight—gathering them loosely allows you to make a round pumpkin shape.) Wrap the pipe cleaner around the gathered edges a few times to hold the stem in place, leaving the ends of the pipe cleaner free to form your pumpkin’s vines. Slide a Little Pumpkin gift tag onto one vine, and then wrap the pipe cleaner vines around a pencil or your finger to create an adorable spiral shape.

If you plan to have your guests make their own little pumpkins, consider cutting the cups of an empty egg carton apart and using them to hold the candies inside the wrapping. Little hands may have an easier time wrapping their paper and forming a round pumpkin shape if they have a small cup (or two held together like a clam shell) acting as a guide.

Have fun!
